Twelvefold Time
Twelve Sections, Twelve Hours
Twelvefold Time began with an unusual piece of oak: approximately 60–70 years old, yet naturally close to a circular form. Rather than leaving that form untouched, d’Almeida chose to reconstruct it, applying the d’Almeida Reconstruction Technique and dividing the wood into twelve naturally formed sections. The pieces were then brought together again with matte black epoxy resin, turning the act of reconstruction into an essential part of the artwork. The twelve sections introduce a direct connection with the twelve hours of the clock, while subtle stones emerge from within the black resin and add another layer of detail to the reconstruction. Custom black-and-gold gradient hands and golden hour markings complete the piece, while the natural oak remains exposed and tactile. The result is a functional artwork where the original material, reconstruction and measurement of time become inseparable.
