Stellar Bloom
From Root to Starlight
Stellar Bloom began with an olive root rescued from wood that was destined for a fireplace. Rather than significantly altering its natural geometry, d’Almeida chose to preserve the character and movement already present in the root, using it as the foundation for something new. The original form gradually extends into a slender, horn-like point, created through successive stages of epoxy resin work. Deep black resin slowly gives way to transparency, revealing a brilliant at the centre and smaller sparkling elements suspended around it, like a field of stars. Each stage demanded more than simply adding resin: the surface had to be shaped, carved, sanded and refined by hand before the next layer could begin. The result is a small transformation from an element once buried in the earth into a form that seems to reach towards the stars.
