Expanding Explosion - Part II
The Explosion Grows
Born from the same ancient olive tree as its predecessor, this artwork marks the second chapter of a trilogy that explores an ever-expanding explosion of wood, light and space. After slicing a thick section of the tree in half, d’Almeida transformed one of the new slices into 13 carefully separated segments, allowing the natural growth rings and contours of the olive wood to remain at the heart of the composition. From the central spiral form — reminiscent of a small volcanic eruption — glowing rivers of sparkling resin flow outward between the fragments, creating a sense of movement and expansion. The increased scale and wider gaps give this second chapter a stronger presence while continuing the visual language established in the first.
