Dual Essence
Where Nature Finds Its Reflection
This Sculpture Table brings together two pieces of the same tree, rescued from wood destined to become firewood. Opened and positioned as reflections of one another, their natural contours form an irregular, almost rectangular sculpture in which nature remains the starting point. As d’Almeida worked with the wood, one of its forms suggested the profile of a rabbit, a shape he chose to preserve and immortalise within the piece. Areas where the timber had deteriorated were carefully removed, leaving the remaining wood surrounded and connected by deep black resin. The contrast is deliberate: warm, tactile wood finished only with mineral oil above, and highly glossy black resin shaping the underside, sides and sculpted legs. A rigid construction unites the two sections, while a visible cavity beneath them adds another layer of depth to the composition.
